The Charles University in Prague, founded in 1348, is the oldest University in the Central Europe and is one of the oldest European universities. It is a prestigious university and belongs among the top ranked universities worldwide.

Presently, the Charles university has 17 faculties (14 in Prague, 2 in Hradec Králové and 1 in Plzeň), university institutes and other workplaces for educational, research, scientific and development or other creative activities or to provide information services.
