The University of Pardubice is a modern and dynamic public higher education institution and prepares specialists for successful careers in a wide variety of professions. University creates an open international community. It has been extending a sixty year long tradition of higher education in the City of Pardubice. The Chemical College, later known for 40 years as the Institute of Chemical Technology, was founded in Pardubice in 1950 to answer the needs of the East-Bohemian region, which had a highly developed chemical industry, yet lacked professionally trained specialists in this field.
The University of Pardubice is one of 26 public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic, and the only higher university-type educational institution in the Pardubice Region. It has 7 faculties and 1 institute with over 10 thousand students in 60 undergraduate or postgraduate study programmes with more than 130 study specializations.
The university consists of the following faculties:
- Faculty of Chemical Technology(established in 1950) - Eng. - System Engineering and Informatics on Bc. / Ing.
- Faculty of Economics and Administration (established in 1991) - Eng. - PhD - Economic Policy and Administration, Applied Informatics, System Engineering and Informatics
- Jan Perner Transport Faculty (established in 1993) - Ph.D. Technology and Management in Transport and Telecommunications
- Faculty of Arts and Philosophy(established in 2001)
- Faculty of Restoration(established in 2005)
- Faculty of Health Studies(established as the Institute in 2002)
- Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (established as the Institute in 2002)
The University offers more than sixty study programmes with almost one hundred and thirty study specializations. All are designed in accordance with the Bologna Declaration and modern trends in higher education. Most Bachelor´s study courses offer follow-up Master´s programmes. Full-time and part-time studies are available.
As a member of the European University Association, the University has become an active part of the European and world higher education and research area.
