Programme information

Visual Arts is a follow-up MA programme that combines practical studio-based seminars and workshops with theoretical lectures on art theory and history Visual Arts Curricula and Teachers. It is designed for BA or MA degree holders from universities and colleges abroad, irrespective of country. It aims at providing foreign students with good education in the chosen discipline in order to prepare them for individual or team specialist profession all over the world. After two years of studies, students are required to submit a diploma work consisting of a thesis and a diploma project defense. Successful programme graduates obtain an internationally acknowledged academic degree MgA. together with Diploma Supplement containing information about subjects taken at the university. In Visual Arts, importance is attached not only to a balanced combination of practice (mastering craft and technical or technological procedures) and theory (Art History and critical reflection of the current issues in the chosen discipline), but also to interdisciplinary approach.

Admission requirements

• BA degree in fine arts and related technical disciplines (when applying for architecture, BA in architecture is a condition)
• high standard of art work submitted by the applicant in the form of his/her portfolio
• basic knowledge of Art History and Aesthetics
• good command of English that will be the language of communication among students and their teachers throughout the two years of VA study
• CV with relevant information about applicants` professional history or participation in exhibitions (in English)
• motivation letter – at least 2 pages in English
• portfolio containing applicant` s own pieces of work related to the area of studies he/she selected - at least 10 examples in printed form or on CD/DVD
• two recommendation letters
• proof of completed BA studies (after being admitted it is necessary to submit a Diploma Supplement or other attested true documents)
• proof of applicant` s capability of studying in English - attested true copies of certificates
• filled in APPLICATION FORM (odklik na Application Form) (please, specify the chosen studio)
